Hi, we moved to 176 Main Street in September and I was trying to find as much information about the house as possible with no luck so far. Would really appreciate any help with finding the history of the building and people that lived here before us

Hi Monica,
According to the 1841 Scotland census, my 2nd great-grandfather, Alexander Scott Barr, lived at Main Street Backland Closs 176, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Is that your house? He was a cotton dyer. He died in Canada in 1871.
