Yellow Sodium Lighting

It’s almost the end of an era for Sodium lighting. There are only a few places left in Blantyre which still have the old, yellow sodium street lights. Nowadays, these are replaced by council LED white lighting. Now it may just be me, or maybe nostalgia, but I think the “yellow” were better. They may not be as cost effective, but they were bright and gave the streets a warm glow in evenings, especially in winter or snowy conditions.

Today’s lights are dim, dark gaps between the lamp standards and with cold appearance. What’s your thoughts? What streets are left in Blantyre still with sodium lights?
