When the new homes at Ness Drive were built in the Village, some intention was given to leave the trees around them. The large trees had been there for many years before. Even when Councillors named Ness Drive in 1979, just ahead of the street being built, discussion had already taken place to ensure the trees remained.
However, after the houses were built, the large trees became a bit of a problem, obscuring light from windows and large roots causing issues in the new gardens. The proximity of them was also rather close, hazardous if ever any fell.
Decision was made in 1982 to cut down the trees and attend to some further land clearance, as shown in these photos.
