Excellence in Recitation

image3.jpg
Auchinraith Primary School have a fantastic new annual award for pupils and it’s all thanks to Blantyre Project friend and ex Auchinraith pupil, Archie Simm!
Pictured is the “The Robert Burns Award for EXCELLENCE IN RECITATION” award.
The statuette stands 12″ tall (16″ with base) and is an amazing 13 pounds of solid bronze.
The accompanying shield has a centre piece of a brass door knocker in the likeness of
Burns with arms holding aloft Rabbie’s birth home in Alloway. When the winning pupils approach for their award, they will “knock on Rabbie’s door” to receive it and will also see their names engraved on the shield.
Archie told me, “I hope this new award will prove to be an added incentive for pupils to enhance both their literary and recitation skills. I also hope it will be highly competitive.”
Well done Archie and best wishes to everyone at AUCHINRAITH!
