By the turn of the Millennium as these 2002 photos show, St Joseph’s Primary School on Glasgow Road had seen better days. It is little wonder from these photos that plans were already then foot to discuss building a new school.
The new school was built in 2010, opening in October that year although snagging on the building continued right into 2011. The derelict old school pictured was demolished between 7th and 29th January 2016.
Today, the land is vacant, ready for another chapter when it will soon become the location of a community care hub.
