A charming photo of Hunthill Road, still with gas lamps and several thatched cottages. The photo dates from the late 1930’s. The large sawmill factory chimney at High Blantyre, which was a tall as the steeple of the church, had been removed by this time. The building in the foreground also now demolished.
Otherwise, despite being nearly 80 years ago, there’s something strangely very familiar about the scene. However, the lack of traffic is certainly somethings thats definitely changed! This is now a fairly busy road.
