Exploring Bothwell Castle: A Glimpse from the 1960s

Today’s photo is of Bothwell Castle. An early aerial photo taken, I believe in the 1960s.

Now, whilst the castle is remarkable enough, it’s the former Priory Bing which has collapsed into the river which attracts my attention in this photo. The bing collapsed in 1947, partially blocking part of the river. Today, woodland has sprouted from that area, which unfortunately covered up some of the early riverside paths.
