Blantyre Round Table

Thanks to Helen Williams for sending me this photo. Pictured are members of Blantyre Round Table. I was hoping some people could perhaps tell me the date (even just the year?), although I suspect it’s the 1980s.

The seven men were flying from Glasgow to Malawi with a £70,000 cargo of charity goods. Their cargo included 3,000 pairs of spectacles which were in short supply in Malawi as well as much needed drugs, medicines and bandages.

The goods were collected through the Blantyre Round Table. Pictured from left to right are Ken Jack, Bill Thom, Sandy Wilkie, Bill Houldsworth, Ron McIntosh, Ian Proudfoot and George Fulston.
