Braidwood Building Contractors

Pictured here in 1968 in the back yard of Alexander Braidwood’s Building Yard, on the right in my mother Janet Duncan. I’m unsure who the person on the left is, but a Summers day was certainly being enjoyed by taking work outside.

Braidwood Builders was located at 5 Logan Street, Low Blantyre where my mother worked as a clerk. The builders were Andrew and Alexander Braidwood and the firm employed a considerable number of local tradespeople. The yard later relocated to near Rosendale, further along Glasgow Road. My mother gave up this job to become a full time mother in 1971.
