1930 Blantyre Priest’s Funeral

This was just a section of the enormous crowd which gathered and lined up along Glasgow Road for the funeral of a popular Blantyre Priest in 1930.

The camera looks toward the entrance of St Joseph’s Church and the funeral of Rev. Father Thomas O’Halloran which took place on the morning of Wednesday, 1st October 1930. The casket was solemnly carried to a waiting hearse which took the priest on to Dalbeth Cemetery in Glasgow.

This photo, now 92 years old was within a pictorial review of Lanarkshire for 1930, and shared to Blantyre Project courtesy of J Stone.
