Brian Impresses Coach, 1980

In August 1980, local lad Brian Fisher (13) as attracting international attention in the footballing world!

Brian, of Helmsdale Avenue, Priory Bridge received a trophy from English FA coach Tony Heaney and finishing top player in a coaching squad of 40 youngsters who had recently visited Butlins.

Brian, a John Ogilvie School pupil in Burnbank impressed Tony so much, the coach said, “Brian is the best defender i’ve seen all season. He plays with a cool head and reads the state of the game, well. He keeps calm when passing.”

Brian, a Celtic supporter was on holiday in Bognor Regis with his parents and 10 year old sister Lynn.
