1978 Bottom of Elm Street looking at the last days of the shops along Glasgow Road. Was there a play park on the left? Being a High Blantyre boy, I couldn’t recall that and decided to ask on social media, where a cascade of replies followed:

• Margaret Slaven Mc Sorley Yes
• Alan Baird aye there was swings and a wee roundabout i think
• Yvonne Houghton I was brought up in this street loved it
• Mary McLellan yes there was
• Margaret Farmer Yes, there was a playground. I used to live on Jackson St and Herbertson St before that.
• Marion Anderson We lived in Hawthorn pl , played on the swings often. The used to have Punch and Judy shows there too.
• Patricia Hutcheson Docherty Walk down Elm St every day, great memories
• Robert McLeod-Wolohan Aye there used to b a swing park there
• Etta Morrison We lived in beech Pl and used swing park often..There was swings chute roundabout and something we called the frying pan ??
• Mary Boyle My Nana Mrs Mogan lived in Elm Street, also I was born there! It was my world when I was growing up.
