Just to finish off my research into a rather eventful 1895, with some last few Blantyre stories of that year.
On the evening of Tuesday 8th January 1895, it was very icy and cold. A man named Hendry was found lying between the rails by the stationmaster Mr Ogilvy at High Blantyre Station. A little after 10pm, the unfortunate man was found moaning at the foot of the wooden stair, having apparently fallen down those stairs.
On examination, it was found that the rim of his right ear was almost torn off and immediately behind the ear was a large wound. The cause of the slip thought to be ice. The man was concussed and given the inclement temperatures, it was fortunate he had been found when he was. The wounds were stitched by Dr Wilson who then had the man taken home in the Blantyre Ambulance waggon.
