John Ogilvy Promoted

Did you know that the stationmaster at Blantyre was once a Mr. John Ogilvy? A memorable name in Blantyre but quite coincidental and separate to the other saintly, similar name. John was stationmaster of the Low Blantyre Railway Station on the Caledonian Railway for 12.5 years until he left in October 1895 following a promotion.

He was promoted to Airdrie Station that year following 33 years service to the railway. Mr Watson from Kilwinning was the next Blantyre stationmaster succeeding Mr. Ogilvy.

I wonder what Mr Ogilvy would make of this photo from half a century later in 1945 and the changes to the station since his time. Or what he would think of people around the world reading about of his promotion nearly 130 years later?!
