Who remembers the Ladbrokes bookmakers which used to be on Main Street, High Blantyre? This photo from 1980 shows the business on the south side of Main Street some 43 years ago.
This was next to Matt Boyles pub ‘Auchinraith Vaults’. The building had a bit of lean even then, which is now significantly worse due to prolonged subsidence from underground workings. Until last year, this was the Look Sharp barber shop. What other businesses do you remember being at this location? Ladbrokes have been in several places in Blantyre over the years, but did anybody used to frequent this particular location?
