The young girl of Auchentibber Court, High Blantyre went to Pontin’s holiday resort in Dorset and with scores of other children, entered the fancy dress competition. The panel of judges voted Denises costume as having the most effort and remarked on her happy demeanour. Denise was delighted to win and told judges her hobby was painting. The judges presented her with a certificate and gift including an inscribed trophy.
