Hoolet’s Boot Scraper, Barnhill

2013 Hoolet’s Boot Scraper by Jim Brown

Nice little simple post today. This 2013 photo by Jim Brown was taken outside the Hoolet’s (Then the Hoolet’s Nest).

It features a metal boot scraper, used for scraping the layers of mud off your boots before going in for a drink. The shoe scraper, I believe is still there today, in the same place it’s been for generations.

I can just imagine the workers in the nearby Wheatland fields coming in at the end of the day, or a weary miner returning back to Barnhill or Larkfield, using this little piece of metal.
