Continuing a look at early East Kilbride. There’s not much to recognise left in this photo, but this is the construction of the Whirlies Roundabout in the 1950s. Taken over 70 years ago, East Kilbride was affectionately nicknamed ‘Polo Mint City’ by visitors, due to the number of roundabouts.
