Blantyre Project reader Mary (McQue) Meaux has shared this cheery photo. She told me, “Blantyre Celtic. My guess is this picture is 1950’s. Left to right: Neilly McCue, Beadie (William) McCue, Effie McNamee standing, Sorry don’t know 4th person?”
Neilly and Effie both played for Blantyre Celtic. I’ve mentioned these players before as part of a notable group of three, McCue, Telfer, & McNamee. Beadie McCue lived in Pennicuck and Neily were brothers.
Effie lived in Hamilton old town and Neilly and their wives were friends for life.
