Hi, I'm researching the whereabouts of 4 small miniature columns from Hamilton Palace. The were about 5ft high, and maybe 10 ins thick, and stood in the private chapel at Craighead House, the SJ retreat. They were installed in c1927, framing the altar and were probably black granite or black marble, with corinthian ie leaf shaped capitals. Could I ask if anyone has any idea what happened to them, or where they may be now (if anywhere!). I know the mansion was demolished after vandals burned it down, sadly. https://blantyreproject.com/2024/11/craighead-retreat-2/

Many thanks, Morag Cross, Glasgow

Hi Morag - I don't have answers on this unfortunately, nor any photos, but I have scheduled an article to ask readers if they know more, keeping your name anonymous. The article will appear online on Tuesday 29th July here https://blantyreproject.com/2025/07/craighead-chapel-columns/
