I’m not sure when this postcard dates from , but it could be around WW2 or just after? This is of course the General’s Bridge, seen from the River Calder, at High Blantyre.
The road over the Calder was then the main road between East Kilbride and Blantyre. The river below trickles along, an excellent fishing spot and a more scenic spot would be difficult to find. On the other side is Crossbasket Estate.
