St Joseph’s Covid Memorial

A wonderful tribute to those Blantyre people who lost their lives in the covid pandemic has been created within St Joseph’s Church.

In January 222, a COVID memorial was installed in the old baptistery at the back of the church, just off Glasgow Road. The names of all those who died between the 23rd March 2020 and 15th January 2022 have been placed in a sealed box and buried in the wall underneath the memorial.

A representative for St Joseph’s added, “Hopefully this will serve as a fitting and lasting memorial to all those who died and suffered during the pandemic. It is because of your generosity that most of these works have been able to have been carried out, so thank you for your kindness and generosity to this parish.”
