A new Gingerbread Group (the outfit that helps one parent families) started up in Blantyre in late October 1980.

The group met in the Elizabeth Scott Centre every Wednesday evening to give single mothers and fathers a helping hand. Experts were on call to give advice on welfare, housing and other solutions. A creche was set up for young children. David Hunter was one of the organisers.
