High Blantyre Primary “Sing in”

The infant pupils of High Blantyre Primary School certainly knew how to put a song in the hearts of one of Lanarkshire’s major charities in 1980.

In August that year, over 200 pupils held a “sing in” singing songs for raising money towards the Strathclyde Scanner Campaign. The youngsters ploughed through a whole morning of songs, 159 of them in total, ballads, nursery rhymes and raised a whopping £765 for the new equipment at Hairmyres Hospital.

Infant mistress Jean Gibson was particularly proud as she watched the youngest pupil Laura Stewart hand over the cheque.

Do you remember this? These local kids would now be in their early to mid 40s.
