Here’s a lovely, tranquil photo from several decades ago. Pictured from the former footbridge, this is the Milheugh Falls at the Calder. It always amazes me that there’s still so many auld Blantyre photos to be seen here for the first time. Shared here from the Blantyre Heritage Group, I suspect this scene won’t have changed much these days, apart from the odd missing tree or two.
That was the great thing about the little bridge. You could always get a nice straight on, direct photo of the falls. Nowadays, the falls are mostly pictured from the grass verges on the riverbank at oblique angles.
