The Colleen Bawn, 1930

Members of St Joseph’s Church, Blantyre are pictured in costumes for a play they produced to entertain the residents of Blantyre.

Held in the Co-operative Hall on Wednesday 5th November 1930, the chosen play was “The Colleen Bawn”, a rather dark, melodramatic but well known Irish Play. Amateur Dramatics seems to have fallen by the wayside in Blantyre in recent times, but part of me wishes I could see these old plays performed again.
