How amazing is this collage of photos! Margaret Skelsey shared this photo on behalf of Ellen Templeton McCulloch and incredibly it features 7 generations of the same family…going back to some great Blantyre connections..
The Barnhill Smiddy on Broompark Road was owned and run by Margaret’s great, great Grandma and Grandpa. The Templeton family. When John Templeton passed away, he was succeeded in the business by his son Jamie.
Margaret told me, “According to my mother, it was Jamie who turned it into a small engineering workshop when horses were no longer so abundant and shoeing was not as necessary. My mother is a mine of information on family history and has numerous photos which may be of interest to you and other people.”
Margaret continued, “Attached is a collage of photos which she has on the wall which shows.
