Looking down from Sydes Brae towards High Blantyre, this photo was photographed around 1975 and features the Jerusalem Houses most prominently. This was just before the construction of that section of the EK Expressway around the time of contractors moving in to attend to the earthworks and further reduction of the former Dixon’s Pit Bings.
Looking beyond the houses, in the middle of the picture is Main Street with Blakelys Pub on the far left, then moving right to the Dales, then to the former shops near the junction of Cemetery Road. Beyond that, in the distance is the tall, Calder Street School and the white building, the Blantyre library. Do you remember this view, from 45 years ago? With thanks to Drew Semple for sharing.
