Its worth sharing this photo this particular week, if only as it’s exactly 100 years old! Yes, this photo was taken in April 1920 meaning its a Century old. It is of course Main Street in High Blantyre and has been exclusively colourised for Blantyre Project.
On the right beyond the entrance to Preistfield, are the old co-buildings, still there today. This was the start of a decade where horses and carts were starting to decline giving way to motorised vehicles.
