This great photo is Pete and Anthony Smith at Craighead Viaduct. The date is 1958.
Taken from the Blantyre side, it shows the former railway viaduct in good perspective and indeed the elevated pedestrian walkway below the track. Houses can be seen on the Bothwell side in the background.
The viaduct spans the River Clyde and the pillars are now brought down, one of which collapsed by its own accord.
Love a walk passing under these amazing collossal walls and you cant help feeling the admiration for those building them… shame its all now in the past and not in use
