It was smiles all around on the evening of Thursday 11th May 1978 at Third Blantyre Scout & Cub Group, as four of the lads received their Chief Scout awards.
Assistant District Commissioner Robin Johnston (centre) presented Scouts Joe McKenna, Andy Paterson, John Little and Alan Glen with the awards, the first in their group that year.
Looking on proudly is Scout Leader Gavin Carruthers (far left) and Group Scout Leader Robert Izett (far right). The presentation took place at David Livingstone Primary School where the group was holding its first ever parents night. Around 200 parent turned up to watch exhibitions and demonstrations of the Group activities and organisers were delighted at the turn out.

Hi Duncan. Thanks. Perhaps the reporters got this wrong. I lifted the story from a newspaper. I’ll double check in case the group split in name or changed. Thanks.
Just one wee mistake, I recognized some names on the scout picture and it is the fifth Blantyre group not the third
