1978 Stonefield Public Park

1978 public park

Don’t you just wish sometimes you could go back for a day to how Stonefield Public Park used to be. Just friends and a climbing frame or two in the sun.

Photo from 1978 showing the park equipment and kids out enjoying themselves…..

John Cornfield Oh for a time capsule
Elizabeth O’Brien Now health & safety has gone mad and people dont play anymore. They just want to destroy stuff or if they fall, take whoever to the cleaners.
Collette Maguire Gardiner Now that took me back. We’ve a family picture with cousins sitting on top
Linda Halpin The frying pan x
Bryan Deazeley That’s back in the day when the park was a park. I have amazing memories of the playpark, the boating pond, the paths and the flowerbeds. It was a lovely place to walk and play.

Fast forward 40 years and the park is a shadow of its former glory. Boating pond gone, flowerbeds gone, paths reduced. It’s little more than a place to walk the dog these days. It’s sad to see how little imagination SLC have. But hey, they renamed the park so it’s all good……..

….. I’ve just realised I’m starting to sound like my dad …..😮

Tracey Muir Has the boat pond gone?
