Fantastic Day Out!

What a fantastic day I’ve had at the Lanarkshire Family History Exhibition in Motherwell. I want to say thanks to Lanarkshire Family History for inviting me along today (Saturday 2nd September 2017) and hope I represented Blantyre well.

I got in nice and early (pictured as I set up) and was provided a HUGE stand in a great location in the hall, amongst dozens of other interesting historical and social history exhibits. Taking time to go around each stall, I collected so much useful information and made excellent, new contacts and alliances with others.

I was thrilled to see crowds of people arriving and browsing all the stalls with the show getting busier as the day went on. I met so many people with Blantyre connections and in typical fashion, ended up with a sore throat from talking! Many familiar faces too, some of whom had come over to pick up a book or two! So many people wishing to share their stories, which I intently listened to every word.

By the close of the venue at 4.30pm, I was chuffed to see I didn’t have that much stock left, making it much easier to carry back to the car, I tell you!

August Donation

As always, book sales by Blantyre Project, (after any exhibit costs) are donated to charitable causes.  Today’s sales totalled a fantastic £202, which added to online August book royalties of £210 , gives a total of £412. Less -£55 for my amended new, reusable banner, -£58 set aside for Blantyre Oscars 2018 trophies and £99 needed in legal fees for my imminent Blantyre Project issue (recoverable later), gives a donation for August of £200, which this month I’m choosing to donate to MacMillan Cancer Support. Evidence of this donation will be put up on Blantyre Telegraph’s page when donation is made.

Incredibly, that means Blantyre Project and Blantyre Telegraph has now raised a total of £14,001.65 for 75 charitable causes. (most retained within the Blantyre community!)

Thanks you to EVERYBODY who purchased a book or sent a donation during August and at today’s show. I can’t thank you enough!!!!!

September’s cause, (sales dependent) will hopefully support Blantyre Community Committee for the next festive event.
