With thanks to Maureen Friery who shared her beautiful wedding photo here adding it to the growing archive.
Maureen messaged me this week saying, “I lived at 49 Morven Avenue, Blantyre at the time of marriage. My husband’s name is Hugh Moran and he lived at 3 Tynecastle Place, Glasgow. We were married in St. Joseph’s, Blantyre on October 26th, 1968. It was quite common in those days that you had to share the church with other couples, so as you can see in the church picture, there was a triple wedding on that day. I’m not sure if it’s clear enough that you can use it, but I thought I should send a copy anyway . (Thank you for all that you do, Paul. I love to read all of your historical postings of the town I grew up in. Although I haven’t lived there since 1974, it’s still very much in my heart.)”
Maureen also kindly shared an amazing photo of the stunning interior of the church in 1968. Would YOU like to add your wedding photo to the archive? Send me a message.
