Greenhall Village

screen-shot-2017-03-01-at-19-33-28Following a press release received this evening, I can exclusively reveal that the postal address for the area of 195 new homes in High Blantyre will be called: “Greenhall Village“.

This directly recognises keeping over 4 centuries worth of association with Blantyre’s nearby Greenhall Estate and follows suggestions I put to Avant Homes last September, at their invite.

The fields the homes are currently being built on, once belonged to the Wardrop Moore family who owned this land for several centuries before being sold off to private landowners in 1921. I’m pleased to see the old Blantyre name is being respected, rather than going for the usual modern marketing names that so many builders adopt without thought.

Avant’s chosen name of “Greenhall Village” is very fitting, in my opinion and will have several new streets within it. Relevant, historical suggestions have also been relayed to the builders for their consideration, again at their request. I’m thrilled and honoured to have been asked for input into the naming of a new part of Blantyre!

The showhomes are due this Summer and first tenants expected to move in before Christmas 2017.
