Demolition of Carrigans

As well as documenting old Blantyre history in the most factual manner on and offline, the website also seeks to record contemporary events, as a reference and future aid to historians in later generations. An event there, a person doing something of note or in this case, the demolition of a popular building.

The old brick Carrigans pub and restaurant in Broompark Road, formerly the Manhatten was entirely demolished on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd March 2016. It last sold food to a paying customer on Sunday 31st January 2016, on account of the new restaurant, built beside it opening on Friday 5th February 2016.
