Lodgehill Farm

Described in 1859 as, A Farm Steading, the property of the Right Honble. [Honourable] Charles Lord Blantyre. ” Blantyre Muir” comes as far as the Road south of this Farm.”

In 1879, Mr James Young or nearby Edge Farm had ownership of Lodgehill. Just 2 years later it was known to be uninhabited by 1881. However, reinhabited again when Mr. William Anderson was occupying it in 1930. Later owners included Mr. Charles Agnew who also rented Laighlyock Farm from East Kilbride Development Corporation. Owner of Culdaff Construction once owned this farm in the 1990’s. Current owner is now Mr Raeburn, who also owns Basket Farm and land at Calderside.

screen-shot-2016-09-18-at-10-53-06Lodgehill is a productive stock farm with a large steading and attractive three-bedroom farmhouse.

As of September 2016, it has productive blocks of grassland and an excellent range of modern farm buildings, situated on the southern upper fields above Blantyre.

The farm extends to around 104.00 Ha (257.11 Acres) in total. Lodgehill Farmhouse is situated centrally within the holding in an elevated position and benefits from views over the surrounding countryside to the south.

The Land at Lodgehill Farm provides an excellent mix of grazing and silage ground. The Land at Stewartfield provides a further area of grazing land suitable for fodder production with some rough pasture located to the north of holding.

The current farming system has seen a number of fields having been reseeded and drained to maintain and improve the quality of the grass swards. Lodgehill Farm is centred on a useful modern farm steading including several modern steel portal framed buildings and a silage clamp. The farmland currently runs herd commercial beef cattle with all grass and forage grown on the unit used for home consumption.

The farm steading has capacity to house 210 cows, (up to 130 cows and calves in addition to around 80 store/finishing cattle.) There is a range of cattle sheds, which include straw courts, cubicle sheds and slatted courts.

As of September 2016, the farmhouse and land is up for sale at offers over £765k and requires some modernisation. In all, over 1 square mile of Blantyre is up for sale.
