2016 Ground Investigation

In December 2015 planning was lodged to South Lanarkshire Council for the creation of 172 new residential homes at the farmland behind Shott House, High Blantyre. The process was closed to the public on Christmas Day. The applicant was Wallace Land Investment /Management & Avant Homes.

In Summer 2016, Google Earth updated their Blantyre imagery, which shows the ground investigation trenches where the new homes are to be built. The investigations certainly created a temporary, unusual feature, if looking from above as can be seen here.

The location is Easting 267701 Northing 656605. The land sell was concluded on Friday 23rd September 2016 with planning approved.

Seeing Blantyre’s population decline in recent years, I’m all for the creation of these new homes on the greenfield site, which will see a broad range of quality houses being built in the fields below Greenhall View. It will add a significant area and opportunity for Blantyre.

Construction has already commenced with the demolition of old farm buildings at Shott Farm.

With the permission of Avant Homes, I hope to bring you their official press releases about the progress of this development in the near future.
