Next, a photo from the 1950s, taken at the back of Robertson’s Building at the top of Stonefield Road. The houses were directly opposite the Larkfield Bing.

Shared here by Bill Duncan, the photo shows a rare, expanded view of the 3 storey tenement building. Bill’s mother is to the left and fellow neighbours, Mrs Savage and family to the right.

The buildings ran in a northeast to southwest direction and with wide open fields of Broompark Farm beyond out the picture to the right, I’m sure the back yards must have received a lot of sun during the day and been a lot more pleasant than looking out to the former Dixons Larkfield colliery.
