Blantyre opposes Flemington Wind Turbine

Blantyre is Fiercely opposed to the Flemington Turbine

OK Blantyre. We need your help. Please take 1 minute to read this. Back in Spring 2015, a wind mast was approved for  our beloved Calder at Loanend, on the outskirts of Blantyre. Despite many of us objecting, the 50m mast was put up anyway in summer, a blight on our beautiful Calder Landscape.

NOW, the developer has proposed an even HIGHER large Wind Turbine to be placed directly behind the cottages at Loanend, a mast of monumental proportions at 76.5m tall! (Thats HIGHER than the County Buildings in Hamilton and one which has even seen air traffic control object against.) This is a dangerous precedent which needs our collective voice of objection. The Calder belongs to us, the people of Blantyre, not greedy wind developers and businesses.

Of course Blantyre already has other wind turbines but THIS particular mast is going to be seen from Blantyre itself, but with all the money it generates……wait for it…..going to Rutherglen’s community via the ironically named charity, Healthy n Happy. It is confirmed that Blantyre itself and the Loanend residents will see no benefit at all, either financially, economically or aesthetically. The site is near Calder woodland which may impact the animals, birds and bats living there.

Needless to say, Loaned residents are angered once again, and as they feel very much part of Blantyre, they’ve recently asked for our help to ensure they’re not ignored again at the next planning decision. (Thats the help of everybody reading this!) Loanend is proud of its local heritage just as much as we are, in the middle of Blantyre. They feel part of our community. They cannot be left alone to fight this large company and wind turbine developer.

Blantyre Project feels very strongly that we should support the residents of Loanend, who are today launching a massive campaign of protest against the turbine. We realise wind turbines can be an emotive subject, so we’re not looking for debate. You’re either not bothered or like us, you oppose these white monstrosities being placed right on our Calder woodland and fields. Loanend residents shouldn’t be alone this time.

To launch an automatic, official objection, all you simply need to do is spend 60 seconds filling out your name and address and press send on this website. Your objection will count an an official objection and will be sent to the Council’s planning department, before they make a decision. PLEASE, PLEASE support Blantyre in this cause.
