2015 Blue Poppies at David Livingstone Centre

This instagram photo was taken by the staff at David Livingstone Centre, showing a plant, not entirely native to Scoland. Pictured on Bank holiday Monday May 25th 2015, are beautiful blue poppies. A bright blue flower of the sort we’re used to normally seeing as red.

I enquired about it and was told by Alison (the centre manager) that the poppies are native to the Himalayas. It’s a credit to the fantastic gardeners at the centre that this plant is thriving here.

I’ve deliberately scheduled this post away from its growing season, in order to protect the plant, but I can safely say anybody interested in plants, would have certainly noticed and admired it at the time.

This is one of many more exotic plants located in the gardens of the centre making it a memorable place to visit.
