1947 Dixons 3 miners. 6th January High Blantyre

In May 2015, I stumbled upon a video about mining and couldn’t believe the first few very short scenes were of High Blantyre. But they were and in particular the exact day was on 6th January 1947, when the Coal Board Nationalised mining. Several of the initial scenes featured scenes of crowds at High Blantyre including these scenes of the men at Dixons number 3. The film is exceptionally clear and well preserved, and whilst the moving images are copyrighted, I have obtained permission to show a few stills.

These 2 photos are likely Dixons 3 pit, as the scenes surrounding them on the film , confirm so. The miners and observers here must have been full of hope and excitement to see the coal board nationalised, with promises for the future made to them. The hard working life of miner is etched on to the the faces of these characters. Of course, some of them may only have returned back from WW2, not even 2 years beforehand. There is a high chance that these men lived in the colliery rows around the town, particularly at Priestfield or Dixons rows, Stonefield. Do you know who these men are or have any suggestions for them? It would be fantastic to identify them.
