At the kind invite of Blantyre business man, Barry Carrigan, I was invited over to John Carrigans Pub and Restaurant in Broompark Road recently to get a glimpse of the exceptional business plans they have for expansion. I was thrilled to get an exclusive look at what’s in store for John Carrigans and very excited to see how hugely it will benefit all of Blantyre. Over the next few months, i’ll be updating the people of Blantyre with some official press releases and keeping you all informed of progress.

The first phase of John Carrigans expansion is about to commence shortly. We’re permitted to announce that the Carrigans family have acquired a portion of the Larkfield bing, in the immediately vicinity of Broompark Road, (across from High Blantyre Primary), which under their ownership, will be incorporated into their expansion plans. In a matter of weeks, excavation works are about to commence adjacent to Carrigans, the construction site being fenced off entirely and earthworks removal being undertaken sympathetically in a time when the nearby school is closed. It means minimal disruption to the area.

The existing building has been there for several decades and is long overdue an upgrade. The land acquisition will see a partially redundant bing, formerly a colliery turned into something very functional, entertaining and beautiful.

More updates will be provided in due course as we mutually build upon the relationship with Carrigans, but for now I sincerely wish the Carrigans family all the best as they embark on their ambitious construction project. I’m most certain what is about to be built, will enhance this local community and further afield add a whole new enjoyable perspective to eating and drinking in Blantyre.
